CAREERS GO RACING OWNING & BREEDING INSIDE HORSERACING
Graduate development Adventure. Passion. Fulfilment.

The British Horseracing Authority Graduate Development Programme has been running now for over ten years and is intended for those students that have a really serious interest in a career in racing or in a connected industry such as bookmaking, breeding or catering.

The paid summer placements, lasting up to two months, follow a two-week residential course at the British Racing School in Newmarket during the first two weeks of July.  One purpose of the course is to allow participants to discover how serious their interest is and help develop their career aspirations.  Another is to show how the many parts of the very complex racing industry interlock, and to give students as much knowledge as possible of the various institutions and interests within it.  We generally find this extra knowledge helps most delegates to perform well when applying for permanent job.  Click here for more information on how to apply.

For most of the placements, your degree subject isn’t important. A really serious interest in pursuing a career in racing is. Most of those who join us have just finished their degree, but recent graduates and final year students will also be considered.

If you do get a placement, you’ll get the chance to get to grips with how the many parts of the complex horseracing industry interlock. What’s more, it will stand you in very good stead when you apply for a permanent post in racing. Find out all about them on the Graduate Placement page.
