CAREERS GO RACING OWNING & BREEDING INSIDE HORSERACING
Stable lads association Energy. Pride. Promise.

What is it?
The Stable Lads Association has recently been renamed the National Association of Stable Staff - it is your union. Strongly independent, they represent racing’s stable staff at all levels. They’re always working on your behalf to ensure fair pay and working conditions throughout the industry.

Every year, they renegotiate a Memorandum of Agreement with the National Trainers Federation, which sets out minimum standards for stable staff. Click here for a pdf of the Memorandum of Agreement. All full-time stable staff can become members of the Association. Phone 01283 211522  to find out more about joining.

RIABS
The Racing Industry Accident Benefit Scheme is funded by Trainers and contributions from stable staff. The fund provides benefits following accidental injury, disablement or death in the course of employment. (This excludes any injury incurred whilst riding in a race.)

Click here to download a pdf which outlines the RIAB scheme, and includes other information which may be interesting to new stable employees.

New Chief Executive
JIM CORNELIUS, an experienced trade union official, has been elected as chief executive of the National Association of Stable Staff (formerly SLA).

The National Joint Council for Stable Staff is the negotiating body for stable staff pay and conditions. It combines representatives of both the National Association of Stable Staff and the National Trainers Federation.

A 4% pay rise was recently agreed for all Staff on Grade A Wages but further negotiations are underway with a new Memorandum of Agreement likely to be produced later in 2007.
