Before you Arrive
If you buy your tickets with Britishhorseracing.com you will receive an email from us the day before which will feature a downloadable racecard for your raceday featuring the runners and riders in each race including the jockeys’ colours. This will help you familiarise yourself with the races you’ll be watching before you get to the course.

We’ll also send you a downloadable list of racing jargon which you might find useful and which you can take with you on the day.

If you’re going racing on a Saturday you might have time to watch the Morning Line at 9am on Channel 4. The programme will update you with any non-runners that have been announced so far for that day and any horses that are proving popular at betting shops on the morning of the races.

At the Course
Once you get to the races, you can buy yourself a racecard and, if you’re really keen, you can buy a copy of the Racing Post which has all the form for horses running that day.

Often racecourses have information points, which will be indicated in the racecard. Changes in rider, colours or non runners are indicated on screens around the course.

Also, listen out for the announcer on the loud speaker. He will announce the going before racing starts. He will also keep you updated during the day with news of any changes and/or special events taking place on the day.
